Privacy Policy for NEWS2 ISBAR Calculator
Last updated: 30 October 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how the mobile and web application “NEWS2 ISBAR Calculator” (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use it. This policy is written to meet Google Play’s requirements for data safety and to explain in clear terms what we do not collect.
1. Who is the controller?
Controller / developer: Binyamin Semerci
Contact e-mail: binyaminsemerci@gmail.com
App name: NEWS2 ISBAR Calculator
2. What the App does
The App is a clinical support tool that helps healthcare staff, students and other users to:
- calculate a NEWS2 score from vital signs,
- structure clinical communication using the ISBAR format, and
- optionally generate a PDF report on the device.
The App is designed to work offline and to store data locally on the device only.
3. What data we collect
We do not collect, transfer or sell any personal data to our own servers or to third parties.
All patient-related entries (such as patient name, ID, ward, vital signs, ISBAR notes) are entered by the user and are kept on the device for the purpose of using the App. The App does not automatically send this information anywhere.
4. Local storage
To make the App more convenient, we may store the following locally on your device:
- the last entered patient/ISBAR data;
- the last calculated NEWS2 score and extra measurements (e.g. CRP, urine stick);
- the language you selected in the App;
- a short log of the last created PDF reports (up to 20) so that you can find them again.
This information stays on your device. It is not sent to the developer. If you uninstall the App or clear its data, this information will be removed.
5. No account, no login
The App does not require a user account, login, password or registration. We do not issue tokens and we do not use cloud sync in the current version.
6. PDF export and sharing
The App can generate a PDF report (for example, a NEWS2 summary with ISBAR). This file is created on the device. If you choose to share the PDF (for example via e-mail, messaging apps or EHR systems), the sharing is handled by the operating system (Android/iOS) and/or the service you select. At that point, the PDF is subject to the privacy policy of that service (e.g. e-mail provider, messaging app). We do not receive a copy.
7. No analytics and no ads
The App does not include third-party advertising SDKs, and it does not use analytics services (such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Meta SDK, etc.) to track you.
8. Sensitive health data
Because the App is meant to be used in healthcare and training situations, the information you type may be health-related. We strongly recommend that you:
- only enter the minimum data necessary,
- protect the device with screen lock and OS-level security,
- delete test patients after training sessions,
- follow your employer’s / hospital’s privacy rules.
9. No medical diagnosis
The App is a support tool and does not replace clinical judgement. Clinical decisions must always be made by qualified healthcare professionals. The developer is not responsible for clinical decisions made on the basis of entries in the App.
10. Children
The App is intended for professional or supervised use (healthcare workers, students, or people in training). It is not directed at children under 13.
11. Data retention and deletion
Because the data is stored locally on your device, you control the retention. To delete data:
- use the “reset / nullstill” function inside the App, or
- clear the App’s storage from the device settings, or
- uninstall the App.
After uninstall, we do not keep any copy, because nothing was sent to us.
12. Legal basis (EEA/UK)
Where the App is used in the EU/EEA/UK context, personal data (if any) is processed on the legal basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) for the purpose of providing a clinical support tool, or on the basis of the user’s explicit action to generate a report. Since data is kept locally and under the user’s control, processing is very limited.
13. Third parties
We do not share data with third parties, ad networks or analytics providers in this version of the App.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to the App or changes in legal requirements. The latest version will always be available together with the App (for example via the store listing or app website).
15. Contact
